OUR ESTIMATION PROCESS

As a starting point, estimating the scope of work begins with an analysis of the drawing plans provided by the client. Following this, a digital takeoff is performed using Bluebeam or Planswift Accubid software. The numbers are then placed into a detailed line item Excel spreadsheet.

The takeoff amounts included in the spreadsheet comprise all of the quantities in the following schedule breakdowns:

This portion includes estimating the volume of concrete required for the various components of the structure including foundation walls, columns, and lintels, as well as platforms, steps, and other structures. This also covers an estimation of the transport expenses together with the necessary equipment which includes cranes, pumps, mixing machines, etc.

Expenses for concrete formwork. These expenses will vary according to the method of acquisition (sale or rental), type, the equipment used, and cost of labor.

Concrete reinforcements including structural rebars, wire meshes, plastic meshes, stirrups and dowels.

Estimate man hours needed in order to budget labor costs. The materials, manhours, and equipment cost estimates are generated using RSMeans, our construction database from which we obtain current and zip code specific materials pricing, and our construction costs database. Included are the digging, filling, squaring, and consolidating operations as well as haulage, plant, and labor costs. Other expenses including spillage, residues, socage, transformation, and concrete analysis are also considered. Additional allowances for inflation together with other unforeseen expenditures are also made.

The project manager and the client review the individual items of the quote and they supervise the final preparation works together with an invoice verification for validity.
